About Yarnbury Rugby Club
Yarnbury RFC is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Yorkshire being founded in 1872. At the start of our 139th season we field four senior sides plus a veterans team, and have a thriving junior section with teams from Under 7’s right up to Under 19’s.
Yarnbury RFC is proud of our strictly amateur status and is also a registered charity. Yarnbury RFC also offer our pitches and facilities out to local schools, charities and institutions from the locality on request.
If you wish to learn more about Yarnbury RFC, or you or your children may be interested in joining , please speak to one of our volunteers who will be happy to help.
In 2012 we will be hosting our third annual beer festival which is organised by volunteer members of the club.
Fundraising
As with previous festivals, the aim of the festival is to raise much needed money for Yarnbury RFC, to secure the financial future of the club so more generations can enjoy the great sport of Rugby Union.
What changed last year is that we have invited another charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity, to get involved with the festival. We will also be suporting the YAA again this year.
Yarnbury RFC have needed the assistance of the air ambulance several times in recent years, fortunately the injuries have turned out to only be minor.
You can help us help them by purchasing a charity quiz, donating the remaining balance of your vouchers to them or putting your loose change in one of the collection buckets you will see around. Please take the opportunity to visit their stall over the weekend, and find out more about this great charity. Find more about the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at www.yaa.org.uk.
In February 2011 Yarnbury RFC was independantly inspected by Cask Marque for the quality and presentation of our cask ales.
Cask Marquee test each cask ale on sale for the temperature, appearance, aroma and taste. Upon passing each section we were award the Cask Marque status.
You can guarantee that the high quality will remain throughout the festival and all cask beers available will subjected to the same high standards of preparation and care.
